Frequently Asked Questions

Courses

The right course depends on your clinical area, previous training, and whether you need an initial course or recertification.

  • ALS2 Course – for clinicians requiring Adult Advanced Life Support training
  • ALS2 Recertification – for clinicians who already hold current or recent ALS competence and require recertification
  • PALS Course – for clinicians requiring Paediatric Advanced Life Support training
  • PALS Recertification – for clinicians who already hold current or recent paediatric advanced life support competence and require recertification

If you are unsure which pathway is right for you, please contact us and we will help guide you.

We do not offer ALS1. We provide the full Advanced Life Support Level 2 (ALS2) course.

ALS1 is generally a shorter introductory program covering more basic components of advanced resuscitation. Our ALS2 course covers the full elements of resuscitation, including emergency drugs, the Team Leader role, and the clinical management of cardiac arrest scenarios, with extensive assessments and a theoretical examination.

Our Advanced Life Support Level 2 (ALS2) course is not an ARC Course Centre course.

No Australian ALS or PALS program can be accredited by the ARC, as the ARC does not provide course accreditation. Our ALS2 course covers the full elements of resuscitation and is equivalent to ALS2 in content and assessment standard. We follow ANZCOR and ILCOR guidelines.
Our ALS2 course has professional recognition and/or accreditation with bodies including:

  • ACRRM
  • ANZCA

Medical Officers with RACGP are able to self-submit their certificates.

Our training is widely accepted by public and private hospitals, healthcare organisations, rural and remote services, and retrieval organisations throughout Australia.

We keep our pricing as accessible as possible while still delivering high-quality, standards-driven training.

Some providers offering ARC Course Centre programs pay licensing or royalty costs that can increase course pricing. We are a private provider, which allows us to deliver clinically relevant, nationally recognised training at a more accessible price point without compromising course content, assessments, or standards.

The ALS2 Course is the full course for participants undertaking Advanced Life Support training.

The ALS2 Recertification course is for participants who already have current or recent advanced life support competence and need to refresh and demonstrate ongoing competence.

Both include practical skills, simulation, and assessment.

The PALS Course is the full course for clinicians undertaking Paediatric Advanced Life Support training.

The PALS Recertification course is for clinicians who already hold current or recent paediatric advanced life support competence and need to refresh and demonstrate ongoing competence.

Yes, we welcome new graduates and first timers to our full course, provided the course is appropriate to their role, workplace requirements, and current level of clinical exposure.

If you are unsure, please contact us before booking and we will guide you.

Yes.

Participants are expected to complete all required pre-course learning before attending the face-to-face component.

For blended programs, this includes completion of:

  • the online learning modules
  • the online pre-course MCQ practice exams

For ALS Recertification, enrolment is dependent on recognition of prior learning / current competence.

If you are unsure whether you meet the recertification requirements, please contact us before booking.

Delivery

Our courses are delivered in blended learning format.

This means participants complete online learning before attending a face-to-face practical training day or session.

The face-to-face component focuses on practical skills, scenario-based learning, simulations and assessments.

Yes. Our ALS and PALS programs include a mandatory online component that must be completed before attending the face-to-face session.

This online learning helps establish the theoretical framework before practical application and assessment.

Blended learning combines self-paced online learning with face-to-face practical training and assessment.

This allows participants to complete theory preparation in advance, so the face-to-face session can focus on higher-value practical skills, simulation, teamwork and assessment.

Participants undertake both practical and theoretical assessments.

Assessments include:

  • airway management assessment
  • defibrillation assessment
  • team leader assessment
  • cardiac arrest scenario management
  • written MCQ examination

The pass mark for the written examination is 80%.

Participants must successfully complete all required course components and assessments to receive certification.
