Accredited Recertification Course!

This ALS Recertification Course is for individuals who have previously completed Advanced Life Support training and require recertification. It is an accredited course and is delivered over 4 hours of face-to-face training.

The ALS Recertification Course is consistent with the guidelines produced by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC), which is Australia’s national representative on the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

During the course, the participants actually use the equipment, perform procedures and manage the arrest scenarios themselves.

Numbers are strictly limited and due to the popularity of our education programs we advise you to register early.  We have a limit of 5 participants per Facilitator for this course and courses tend to book out very quickly.

Cancellation Policy:  Due to the popularity of our programs, your registration will only be confirmed upon receipt of a completed application form and full payment, subject to availability.  We must receive seven (7) days notification of cancellation of your attendance at any course. Your registration fee will be refunded to you less a $50 cancellation fee to cover administration & processing costs, Upon seven (7) days notification of cancellation of attendance, your registration may be transferred, with no additional cost, to a future HealthCare Training Service course within the next four (4) months, if registration numbers permit.  Further, you may only transfer your registration in any program once.  Cancellations will not be accepted within 7 days of a scheduled course.  If you cancel your attendance within 7 days of scheduled course, your registration fee with be forfeited.
Note:  In the unlikely event that the course is cancelled, your registration fee will be returned in full.  As many programs fill up quickly, participants are advised to book early to avoid the disappointment of missing out.

This activity has previously been approved by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) however we have elected to no longer submit our courses to RACGP for approval.  Medical Officers who are members of RACGP are still able and most welcome to attend our courses then self-submit their certification for CPD points to be allocated.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is required for enrolment in the ALS Recertification Course and gained through one of the following avenues:

Recognition of Current Competence (RCC)

HealthCare Training Service will provide RCC where a participant has previously successfully completed all requirements of the full 2-day advanced life support course or ALS recertification course within the preceding twelve (12) months and is required to be reassessed to ensure that competence is being maintained. RCC does not include any additional training of advanced life support competency. If RCC can be demonstrated by the participant, the participant is entitled to enrol in the ALS Recertification Course.

Recognition of Qualifications issued by other accredited ALS Providers

HealthCare Training Service recognises Advanced Life Support Certification and statements of attainment issued by any other accredited Advanced Life Support Course provider. A participant who holds certification of ALS competency completed by the participant within the preceding twelve (12) months will be entitled to enrol in the ALS Recertification Course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of prior learning is available to all HealthCare Training Service participants. RPL is a process that recognises the individual’s non-formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes or competency outcomes. RPL does not include additional training of advanced life support competency.

RPL involves the assessment of previously unrecognised skills and knowledge an individual has achieved outside of an accredited Advanced Life Support Course. To achieve RPL the individual will need to demonstrate advanced knowledge and clinical competence in advanced life support practices. This may be achieved through the successful completion of an un-accredited advanced life support course and/or demonstrated extensive clinical experience in a critical care, emergency or trauma unit.

A participant who demonstrates prior learning and competence in advanced life support will be entitled to enrol in the ALS Recertification Course. Participants wishing to apply for RPL should contact the ALS Course Coordinator to discuss their suitability for RPL.
